The Department of Assamese was introduced in 1985, in the year of the establishment of the college. The Department offers B.A. Regular & Honours Courses following the UG-CBCS (Under Graduate-Choice Based Credit System) under Gauhati University. The students are admitted on the basis of marks obtain in the HS (10+2) standard Examinations conducted by Assam Higher Secondary Council (AHSEC) or Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSC) or any other equivalent examination. In coming years, the Department is enthusiastic to open M.A. Course.
